Hi! I’m Lacey Zell! I was born in Washington state but I’m a North Dakota girl. I moved to ND when I was 3. My love for animals started very young. I would go to my families house as often as I could to play with their German Shepards and to brush their Labrador for hours. I moved to Wyoming at 12 and when I was 14, I got my first puppy dog. His name was Kona. Kona was a Lhasa Apso. When I turned 15, I started doing Kona‘s hair cuts myself. I fell in love grooming him. From there on, grooming was always at the back of my head. When I was 19, I rescued my beautiful German Shepard Lab Mix named Galaxy. Before moving back to ND I had to put Kona to rest. I moved back to ND in 2018, where I met my now husband Michael in 2019. I gained a gorgeous stepdaughter through my marriage. We now officially share a little boy! Together we have 1 cat (Apollo), Galaxy, and the redbone mix twins (Cosmo & Titan). We enjoy our family time together. Don’t be afraid to say Hi if you see us out and about. ☺️
About Kona’s Edge
Kona’s Edge was inspired by my old man. My business is named after how much I love and miss him still. I worked at an animal shelter for 5 years it was the best 5 years of my life. When moving back to ND, I chose a field that didn’t have animals. I was happy but knew I could be happier so I ventured on to grooming. I am ABC College trained. I have also worked with dog groomers here in town to better my skills. With my animal shelter experience, I work well with shy, nervous, etc. animals, I trained with a top trainer in Wyoming for a little over a year for getting shelter dogs basic commands or to see if they would be a good candidate for service companions.

Agreement
POLICY:
Kona’s Edge is a small business - soul proprietorship. You are agreeing to the grooming services of your pet by Kona’s Edge. Kona’s Edge is trademarked in the state of North Dakota with a skilled groomer.
We always attempt excellence but many factors can prevent us from doing just that.
If your pet has dark nails, cutting close to the quick can be tricky. To prevent this, we will take a small amount off and recommend a 1-2 week follow up. This time allows your animals quick to go back to its normal placement and allow a closer trim. If your dog is clipped too close, I will use Kwik-Stop to prevent bleeding and infection.
Breed specific mats: Matting is very common in long fur breed animals. If your animal has mats and you DO NOT request them removed via shaving, we will add an additional $10/hr to de-mat your pet. If the mats are too severe to remove at the comfort of your pet and you DO NOT select shaving, we will shave them out. Your pets comfort is our #1 priority.
Pet Behavior
We reserve the right to refuse to groom aggressive or difficult dogs with behavioral problems. The owner must agree to inform us if their dog is known to be aggressive or has ever bitten anyone. The owner understands that they will be legally liable for the consequences of all bites caused by their dog. If a dog shows excessive aggression during the groom we have the right to use a soft muzzle. If we are unable to complete a groom due to aggressive behavior or injury to groomer or pet, the owner agrees to pay for any work carried out to that point.
Pet Welfare
We will carry out a health check before and during the grooming session and will notify the owner of anything we find. It will be the owner’s responsibility to seek veterinary advice. We are not medical professionals and our health checks do not replace the need to take your dog to the vets for check-ups, advice and treatment.
If any parasites are found during the grooming session the client agrees for them to be cleared at the client’s expense plus any subsequent costs for cleaning and decontamination.
If the pet’s health causes concern, the client authorises 'Kona’s Edge' to obtain veterinary treatment at the client’s expense.
Matted Fur
Short de-matting grooming sessions are available at an extra cost and the owner agrees to pay the cost whether or not the groomer is able to complete the job. If your dog has a severely matted coat our policy is to remove the coat by shaving close to the skin using electric clippers. This can, in some cases, cause skin irritation or skin nicks from the close shaving. I the client agree that Kona’s Edge will not be held responsible for any affect that this has after the grooming session is complete.
